Create beautiful handmade brooms with colorful twine-wrapped handles or stitching using our broom cording bundles. Choose between four different colorways; each includes 30 yards of three luscious cording colors, enough to make 3-6 brooms depending on the size.

This bundle is intended to accompany all of Alyssa Blackwell’s broom-making workshops: Broom Making: Naked Turkey Wing, Woven Whisk, and Long-Handle Brooms. In her workshops, Alyssa guides you through every step of the broom-making process, from the preliminary design decisions that affect the style and shape of your broom to bending the bristle and making your final trim.

This broom-making cording bundle includes:

Broom cording in the colorway of your choice. Each colorway contains three cording colors, 30yd each. Choose between:

- Orchid

Broom Making: Long-Handle Brooms Premium Workshop

Create two full-size long-handle brooms with accomplished broomsquire Alyssa Blackwell, the owner and maker of Hearth Craft Blooms, as you learn her specialized techniques for stitching, weaving, and working with broomcorn. The kit contains everything needed to craft two brooms, including natural broomcorn, tarred twine, nylon cording, a broad knife, and a stitching clamp. To finish your broom, you’ll have the option of creating an intricate woven cap or leaving the cap plain for a minimalist look.

This workshop includes:

A detailed digital workshop led by Alyssa Blackwell of Hearth Craft Brooms
Tools & materials from artisan suppliers, curated for you by Alyssa Blackwell
PDF download with written instructions to complement the video tutorial

The tools & materials in this workshop:

Two bundles of broomcorn, 1.3lb each
Stitching clamp (all-inclusive), 1" x 1" x 18"
Two large wooden handles (wood color and grain may vary)
20 broomcorn stalks
Wood handle broad knife
Wooden dowel (used as a foot brake)
Tarred nylon twine in black, 30yd
Broom cording twine in the following colors, 30yd each:
- Blonde
- Rose
- Plum
Stainless steel scissors
Rubber band
Two large-eye upholstery needles

Materials to have at home:

Lighter
Towel to protect your lap
A bowl or jar to soak the broomcorn stalks
Sharpie
Optional: gardening glove to protect your hands while weaving

*Please note that while there are enough materials to create two full-size long-handle brooms, there are only enough broomcorn stalks to add ONE decorative sweeper cap, meaning that your second broom will have a plain sweeper cap. If you’d like to purchase additional broomcorn stalks, we are offering that as an optional add-on.
