About the Artist: Rachel Snack
After earning a BFA in Fiber & Material Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Master of Science in Textile Design from Philadelphia University, Rachel dedicated herself to preserving traditional hand-making craft practices. To achieve this goal, she founded Weaver House, a textile studio that offers accessible weaving education and promotes hand-making consciousness using traditional techniques.
As a professional weaver, Rachel has traveled the world, exhibiting her work and serving as an artist-in-residence in Ireland and Peru. Additionally, she conducts courses and workshops on fiber dyeing, weaving, and textile conservation. Her work has been featured in various publications, including Yarn-Thread-String and Weaving – Contemporary Makers on the Loom.
Rachel's expertise extends beyond technical skills as she encourages people to see textiles as more than just a product; rather, she emphasizes the tactile, creative, and interpersonal aspects of cloth, weaving it into the very fabric of our human experience.
