Artist Tips
- The same star can be made with thick paper or thin paper, just keep in mind that the patterned paper is thinner and the star will be more delicate.
- In the workshop you will learn how to measure and hand cut strips of paper, but if you have a paper cutter you can use that instead.
- While the glue is drying on the Swedish stars you can multitask by working on other stars.
- It helps to pre-bend the thick gold paper before gluing so that it stays in place easier.
- When adding glue for the Swedish star, a small amount does the job. Excess glue will smear onto the paper.
Fun Facts
- The 3d star is called a Swedish star while the flat star is called a Danish star.
- The stars are both known as advent stars, and represent the star of Bethlehem. They are displayed during the 4 weeks leading up to the Christmas holiday.
- You can decorate the stars even more by adding glitter, gold leaf or dipping them in paraffin wax.
