Welcome to our Wood Power Carving Workshop, where artistry meets the power of modern tools. Whether you're an experienced woodworker or just starting out, this hands-on workshop is designed to teach you the fundamentals of power carving—giving you the skills to shape, sculpt, and refine wood into functional objects such as vases, bowls and spoons.
With expert guidance from Cecilia Bencomo, a skilled instructor and woodworker, you'll explore various techniques to create dynamic textures, intricate details, and smooth contours in wood. By the end of the session, you'll walk away with a beautifully carved piece and a newfound confidence in using power tools for your creative projects.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll have a unique, hand-carved redwood bud vase as well as the skills and confidence to continue exploring the world of power carving on your own.

About the Artist: Cecilia Bencomo
Cecilia Bencomo is a Power Carving Artist and Educator based out of Southern California. Cecilia started her career as a Graphic Designer in Media and Advertising. After 20 years, Cecilia gave up her career to raise her triplet newborns. She self-taught herself woodworking where she designed and built custom furniture for her children before turning to Power Carving as an artistic outlet. She eventually added power tools such as a rotary tool and angle grinder to further advance her work. Cecilia’s technique is very unique and she uses it to carve spoons, bowls and vases in a style that is both artist and fully functional.
Cecilia is not afraid to learn new skills and loves to share her knowledge. She is currently an instructor at the San Diego Craft Collective and has traveled the Country demonstrating and teaching the fundamentals of Power Carving.
When not in her “She-Shed,” Cecilia enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. She enjoys studying and learning new skills in different mediums and discovering new crafts.
