THE HISTORY OF TRADITIONAL BATIK
Traditional batik design, or wax batik, is a revered textile art form rooted in Indonesia's rich cultural heritage, particularly on the islands of Java and Bali. This intricate craft involves drawing designs on fabric, applying hot wax to preserve specific areas, and then dyeing or painting the batik fabric to create vibrant, multi-colored patterns. Traditionally, the motifs range from geometric shapes to nature-inspired designs, each telling a story or representing philosophical concepts.
Discover how a little bit of wax and dye can come together to create a truly stunning work of art. Munirah will also discuss ways to incorporate your batik painting into quilts, keepsakes, and other cherished items. This workshop is perfect for anyone looking to combine tradition with personal expression, resulting in a unique artwork you'll treasure for years. Join us and experience the joy of batik, creating something beautiful and meaningful with your own hands.
