Pressed Florals Workshop

Welcome to an introduction to pressed floral and dried floral composition with artist Karly Murphy. In this workshop, Karly teaches the foundations of flower and leaf pressing to capture beautifully dried botanicals. Once an assortment of flowers and leaves have been preserved, Karly shares her tips to creating finished works of art with bundled composition and style.

Flower pressing is an age-old art that at its heart can become a memory keeping craft to time capsule important events such as weddings, baby showers and even funerals. Preserve florals from an abundant garden harvest in a new home or press leaves on a favorite family vacation. Pressed florals make lovely framed art or special gifts for family and friends.

Botanical Plaster Casting Workshop

Create elegant botanical plaster reliefs and discover the ancient sculptural technique of plaster casting. Also known as ‘bas-relief’ or ‘low relief,’ plaster casting has been used since antiquity in many forms, for both artistic and academic endeavors. In this workshop, Liz shares how to work with modeling clay, create a mold, and use Plaster of Paris to make delicate décor for the home. Our carefully curated kit contains everything needed to create 8-10 botanical plaster casts, including safety goggles, disposable gloves, and a protective sheet. An acrylic clay roller creates a smooth modeling clay surface while tweezers and a detail paint brush help to remove any leftover bits of florals or dried clay. Liz shares how to design your botanical arrangements, condition, and roll out the clay, create a mold using card stock and binder clips, and safely work with Plaster of Paris. Along the way, you learn tips for successful prints, troubleshooting, the ideal Plaster of Paris formula, unmolding, and finishing your casts.

Cross Stitch Workshop

Learn to cross stitch with Zoe Frost of Junebug & Darlin. This Cross Stitch Workshop is an excellent creative practice for novice and expert makers alike. Cross-stitching is achieved through using a grid. By working in a pre-gridded fabric, there’s no guessing as to where to put your stitches or what type of stitch will work best. Cross-stitching is a great methodical craft.

Zoe Frost of Junebug & Darlin will walk you through each of the curated supplies in your kit. You’ll learn to cross stitch by learning to read a counted pattern, and from there, stitch your way through her speciality design, created just for our community of makers. You’ll also explore technique and skills in how to back your embroidery hoop for a professional finish.

Our workshop teaches three types of stitches: full stitches, backstitching and French knots. With Zoe’s help, you’ll gain the confidence and skills to take this 11-color design to the next level with additional techniques to make your piece flourish.
