Build your own DIY mobile with our brass mobile kit and workshop collaboration with artist Sarah Perez of Electric Sun Creatives. Sarah leads us through a study in balance, composition, and design by working with sheet metal and brass tubing to create a sculptural brass mobile that’ll bring a glamorous touch to your home. Learn how to manipulate metal using the tools and techniques that Sarah practices in her studio. You’ll get step-by-step instructions for three different mobile structures in two different sizes, so you can customize your own creation. This workshop includes:

The specialty tools and materials in our brass mobile kit include:

• 4-by-10-inch length of brass sheet metal, to make roughly 16-piece kinetic mobile 
• 2 yards of brass 16-gauge wire
• Tinner metal shears designed to carefully slice through soft metal
• Carbon steel metal punches, sizes 1.5 and 2mm
• Set of pliers

In this workshop, artist Mandi Smethells introduces us to her sculptural fiber art by sharing how to build a wrapped rainbow in her iconic style. Working with specialized tools curated by Mandi, you get a glimpse into her passion and work to create colorful, playful wall art. Utilizing a wrapping technique that helps to build upon the 3D elements of her work, Mandi has developed unique techniques that come from years of weaving experience. The Crafter’s Box wool blend yarn is a collaboration that we’re incredibly proud of. Using materials such as wool, alpaca, and acrylic (which provides strength) - this yarn is specially made in an Italian mill just for us. Our hope is that our wool blend yarn will inspire future fiber-making of all kinds.

The tools & materials included in this kit:

• Six custom wool blend yarns exclusive to The Crafter's Box in the following muted rainbow colorway: taupe, sand, white, stone, pale pink, and golden.
• 100% cotton rope
• Thick circular wire
• A u-shaped tapestry needle
• Strong warp string
• Masking tape

In this workshop, artist Tiffany Lusteg discusses color theory and paint mixing, then gives an in-depth tutorial on how to create string art. The expertly curated kit comes with a custom made birch backer board that becomes the foundation for your piece, acrylic paints, a flat paintbrush, and everything needed to create your string art.
