Artist Sandra Gaestel shares her skills, techniques, and knowledge behind this medium to build beautiful everlasting garden roses and cosmos. Sandra breaks down every step of making our low-maintenance flowers. Each piece is hand-cut, shaped, and molded. Then assembly begins and you’ll see how your flowers begin to take on a layered look of their own. Learn how carefully applied natural powdered spices can bring dimension and realism to each bloom and how to combine crepe paper floral designs with dried florals.

In this workshop, Rae Samuels teaches the process of making handmade paper. You'll learn to pour, mold, press, and dry using Rae's recipes with the opportunity to customize as you craft. Use your handmade paper as stationery for a letter to a friend, a journal entry, or a backdrop for photo memories. Paper transforms when it becomes a thoughtful gift tag, wrapping paper, a seating card, menu, or an invitation to commemorate an experience. 

Paper has historically been crafted using a diverse array of materials from around the globe. This workshop takes us step-by-step through the process of making, beginning with creating the pulp all the way through adding custom embellishments, and finally, pressing and drying our paper creations for use.

Welcome to an introduction to watercolor and gouache with artist Sarah Simon. In this workshop, Sarah teaches color blending theory, color gradient ‘washes’ - and using a live bouquet for inspiration - a detailed study of building watercolor florals from the ground up. Once you’ve completed your bouquet, Sarah introduces Florence, her favorite flower girl and you’ll finish your piece by customizing your own illustrated muse. Sarah finds inspiration in the ever-blooming variety of textures and colors in her urban garden of the Pacific Northwest where she creates lush watercolor paintings in a unique, artistic style that has captured an international following.
