Soft Earth Ceramics Collaboration
$38
We’ve commissioned a set of beautiful hand thrown vessels for Corrie Beth Hogg’s Handcrafted Paper Foliage Workshop. The dimensions are 4″ x 4.5″.
This vessel was created by Emalee of Soft Earth Ceramics:
Soft Earth Ceramics was started in 2015 by Emalee Hudson. While in college she re-discovered her love for pottery and knew that she wanted the wheel and clay to be her future. Starting small, she moved from using school facilities and began working out of a shed in her back yard until she found a beautiful old building in downtown Pensacola, FL. The pieces she makes at the studio are hand thrown on a pottery wheel. Each ball of clay is weighed, measured, and shaped by Emalee alongside Bella the beagle.
Inspiration for Soft Earth vessels comes from the duality of nature and the calmness evoked by clean lines and simple forms. The pieces made reflect the inspiration by reducing the glaze to a clean band, and emphasizing the rough clay in contrast with the gentle form of the vessel.
Making beautiful pottery was the original goal of Soft Earth, but the mission has evolved from the early days. Now, Emalee strives to create a safe, welcoming community for anyone interested in learning or discussing ceramic art.
