This listing includes a bundle of 5 original spoon carving blanks that Melanie shared in her original Wooden Spoon Carving Workshop. If you’d like to explore and gift carved spoons this holiday season, we invite you to scoop up 5 of your choice of wood: our original basswood, walnut and our aromatic Spanish cedar.

The tools & materials included in this kit:

  • a bundle of 5  spoon blanks in your choice of: bass, walnut or Spanish cedar
  • a set of three pieces of sandpaper in varying grits per spoon blank

Carved Wooden Spoons Digital Class

In this workshop, Melanie Abrantes introduces us to the art of carving. Melanie shares how to carve, whittle and sand a spoon blank to slowly unearth a custom long-handled wooden spoon featuring a beautiful round bowl. She utilizes two specialty tools designed by our artist in collaboration with craftsmen from around the world: a Japanese gouge and a Lithuanian carving knife featuring a custom handle.

Access includes:
  • a detailed, digital workshop on how to hand carve wooden spoons by Melanie Abrantes
  • a month-end live Maker Chat Q&A to answer all of your wonderful questions in a community environment (and if purchased after the December 2018 Maker Chat, a recording of the event to reference)
