KRISTEN PUMPHREY
FRAGRANCE BLENDING WITH HAND POURED SOY WAX CANDLES
Kristen Pumphrey, founder and creative director of P.F. Candle Co., joins us to lead a workshop on hand poured soy candles with an introduction to fragrance blending. P.F. Candle Co. is an iconic Southern California, family-owned candle brand known for its soothing, rich fragrance blends.
P.F. Candle Co. is a home fragrance company based in Los Angeles, California. It officially found its origin in 2008 (though Kristen began experimenting with candles at age 12) and has expanded rapidly since the launch of their signature apothecary-style amber jar candle line in 2012. After graduating from NYU with a BFA in Acting and Creative Writing, Kristen pivoted to a career in the publishing industry, where she worked at a craft magazine writing about DIY projects and the burgeoning maker community. When the magazine folded, she took it as an opportunity to relocate and try her hand at making things for a living. P.F.’s team of 22 now makes, ships, and sells all under one roof in East Los Angeles.
This workshop explores the craft of blending fragrances (by educating on top, heart, and base notes) as well as the process of building a wax candle from the ground up. Kristen introduces us to her favorite materials & tools (such as vegetable-based soy wax which is a renewable resource) and offers an introductory education on how she chooses P.F. Candle Co. fragrance blends. She shares that fragrances can conjure memories, create meditative environments, and define a special space. What we think is so special is that blends are completely customizable to ones own lifestyle once a maker is familiar with the process.
We can’t wait to see how you are inspired to explore your own creativity. Continue to learn more through The Crafter's Box Instagram account where we'll share more details daily.
